At the meeting with the Pope, Jannik Sinner was accompanied by his parents, CE Report quotes ANSA.

After the initial greetings — “A pleasure, honored,” said the world number one — the tennis champion introduced his father and mother to the Pope, who asked if they spoke German. Sinner confirmed: “Yes, we speak German.”

Then, Alberto Binaghi presented a FIT (Italian Tennis Federation) membership card to Pope Francis.

The Pope complimented Sinner on yesterday’s match (“You won,” said the Pope), and Sinner replied: “We managed it.”

The Pope then asked how the tournament in Rome was going.

“We’re still in the game. At the start of the tournament, it was tough, but after three matches, we’ve gotten into it,” Sinner said.
