Bulgaria's Athletes Shine at Military World Winter Games

Bulgaria's athletes claimed three gold medals and one silver at the 5th Military World Winter Games in Lucerne, Switzerland, from March 23 to 30, the Defence Ministry reported. Stanimir Belomazhev and Antoniya Grigorova, representing the Ministry's Elite Sports Centre, led the way with impressive performances, CE Report quotes BTA

Belomazhev, a two-time world champion in ski orienteering, secured gold in both the middle distance and sprint races. He previously won silver in these events at the 2017 Military World Winter Games. Grigorova earned silver in the middle distance and gold in the sprint race. She had previously won bronze in 2017.

Over 1,400 athletes from 43 countries are participating in the games, competing in ten winter sports disciplines. Bulgaria's delegation includes 29 athletes, with 18 competing in alpine skiing, biathlon, ski orienteering, ski running, and cross-country skiing.
