The conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump – held on a wooden bench at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge – allowed Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni “to reaffirm the importance of reaching an agreement on the EU–U.S. trade negotiations and to address the prospects of the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague,” according to a statement released by Palazzo Chigi following the meeting in Kananaskis, on the sidelines of the G7, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Additionally, “the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the latest developments in Iran, reaffirming the importance of reopening the path to negotiations.”

Prime Minister Meloni also reiterated the need, at this time, “to work toward achieving a ceasefire in Gaza.”
