Mitsotakis Urges Restraint Amid Middle East Crisis
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis warned of rising tensions in the Middle East, calling it “another crisis in an already burdened and volatile geopolitical landscape,” during his weekly address on Sunday. He emphasized the growing risk of escalation with global security implications and stressed the need for “restraint and composure.”
Mitsotakis said Greece has supported its citizens in Israel and Iran from the start and reaffirmed his stance during a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He reiterated opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons and called for a diplomatic solution, an immediate Gaza ceasefire, the release of hostages, and uninterrupted humanitarian aid, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia
The prime minister also highlighted domestic issues, including the new Traffic Code focused on prevention and stricter penalties for dangerous violations, and the rollout of the Personal Number to reduce bureaucracy—already adopted by over 320,000 citizens.
He concluded by announcing “Greek Art Now,” the country’s first digital contemporary art museum, now available free on the Google Arts & Culture platform.
