The Republic of Moldova has sanctioned 21 individuals through the Interinstitutional Supervisory Council, chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The list includes high-profile figures such as Vladimir Plahotniuc, Ilan Shor, and Veaceslav Platon, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Recean revealed that significant assets have been frozen: 60 bank accounts, nearly 65,000 shares, real estate, vehicles, and over 38 financial operations worth millions of lei and euros.

Plahotniuc, wanted in 196 Interpol member states, has 11 bank accounts and full control of GMG’s social capital frozen. Shor, a convicted fugitive, has multiple accounts and properties blocked. Other sanctioned figures like Marina Tauber and Vladimir Andronachi also face asset freezes.

The Council, established to implement international sanctions and Moldovan measures, has taken 121 enforcement actions since 2024, reflecting Moldova’s intensified crackdown on corruption and illicit financing.
