Elena Lasconi announced her resignation as president of the Save Romania Union (USR) on Monday morning. In a press release, she cited political and personal challenges as reasons for stepping down, calling the decision a responsible act made with confidence in the party's and Romania's future, CE Report quotes Agerpres

“This is a very difficult decision,” Lasconi stated. “But I believe it is the right and natural step. I leave with a peaceful heart, knowing I’ve done everything I could to make Romania better.”
