Politics

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed on Wednesday that Türkiye will continue working with Germany on key regional matters, including Syria, Gaza, and the war in Ukraine, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking at a joint press conference with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Ankara, Erdogan emphasized the importance of lasting peace in Syria following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December.

He also called for collective responsibility in maintaining the Gaza ceasefire, which has been in place since Jan. 19, and stressed the need for continued efforts toward a two-state solution.

Addressing rising Islamophobia in Europe, Erdogan voiced concern over increasing xenophobic and racist rhetoric, which also affects the Turkish community.

Steinmeier, in turn, highlighted Türkiye’s key role in fostering regional stability and criticized U.S. proposals to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, calling them unacceptable under international law.
