Elizabeth Debicki to become first woman to play Richard II for RSC
Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Elizabeth Debicki will become the first actress to portray Richard II in a Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) production, as part of the company’s summer 2027 season.
The Australian star is widely known for her roles in the series “The Night Manager” and as Princess Diana in the final two seasons of “The Crown,” CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
She will take on the iconic role previously played by David Tennant, Derek Jacobi, Jeremy Irons, Michael Redgrave and Sam West, among others.
The production will be directed by Daniel Raggett.
