Spotify to add verification badge for real artists
Digital music platform Spotify is introducing a "verification badge" system to help users distinguish whether content on the platform is generated by artificial intelligence and whether artists are real people.
According to a report by BBC, Spotify is creating a "verified" symbol so users can tell whether artists on the platform are AI-generated or real individuals, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Spotify stated that if artists meet certain standards that "prove their authenticity," a "verified by Spotify" label and a "green checkmark" will appear next to their names.
These standards may include having social media accounts linked to the artist’s profile, consistent listener engagement, merchandise sales, and concert dates. Spotify also noted that more than "99 percent" of the artists actively searched by listeners will be verified, covering "hundreds of thousands of artists."
The report adds that Spotify will prioritize content that has made "significant contributions to music culture and history," and that the verification system will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
