Kim Kardashian admits using Britney Spears to gain fame

Kim Kardashian has admitted that in the early 2000s, she used her friendship with Britney Spears as a way to attract media attention and become famous.

The SKIMS founder made the confession during an interview on the podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, where she recalled an early episode from her life in New York, when she was having dinner with her close friend Jonathan Cheban, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Kardashian said that during dinner they learned that Britney Spears was staying at a nearby hotel. At the time, she and Cheban did not have the means to get around easily, while one of the people present at dinner was driving a Rolls-Royce Phantom, reports Oranews, cited by KosovaPress.

“Fame was everything I wanted. I lived for it,” Kardashian said, adding that they asked that person to drive them to the hotel, while she and Cheban sat in the back seat to create the impression that they had a personal driver.

According to her, once they arrived at the hotel, paparazzi waiting for Britney Spears began calling her name and asking whether she was there to visit the singer. To avoid the situation, Kardashian and Cheban hid in a phone booth inside the hotel, where they stayed for about 20 minutes.

When they left, the paparazzi continued to follow her and ask about Britney Spears, and Kardashian admitted that the strategy worked, as the photos were widely published in the media. “We were on every cover and thought we were making it,” she added.

Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears met in the early 2000s through their mutual friend Paris Hilton. Despite the episode, the two stars have maintained a friendly relationship over the years and have appeared together as recently as lately.
