Nationwide strike announced in Greece
A nationwide strike at open-air markets will start on January 7 in Greece.
"This mobilization is a one-way street. Despite the fact that the producer and the self-employed farmer sell their product at a low price, the policies followed increase the cost at every stage of distribution," according to the announcement of the Confederation.
The main demands of the nationwide strike are the following: high prices, support for farmers - reduction in production costs, abolition of the presumptive method of taxation, immediate withdrawal of the 10% additional taxation, electronic shipping slip and amendments to Law 4849/2021, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
It "creates serious obstacles and does not respond to the real operating conditions of popular markets."
"The indefinite nationwide strike is a message in every direction. Open markets support households, farmers and consumers. We will not allow them to become victims of policies that lead to a high cost of living, market concentration and the devaluation of the primary sector," the statement underlined.
