The Bulgarian Energy & Mining Forum and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria are hosting the Fourth International Nuclear Conference on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) on April 10-11 in Sofia. The event will bring together key stakeholders, including government representatives, technology leaders, regulators, and industry experts, CE Report quotes BTA

Discussions will focus on the development of SMRs, their role in decarbonization, power grid safety, nuclear fuel and waste management, and opportunities for converting coal-fired power plants to small nuclear units.

Notable participants include Westinghouse, Siemens, Rolls-Royce, the French nuclear regulator, and leading Bulgarian companies like KMS and GBS. Universities such as the Technical University, UNWE, and Sofia University will also be represented.

The conference is held under the patronage of Bulgaria's Minister of Energy, Zhecho Stankov.
