No Sign Iran Moved Uranium
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Thursday there is no intelligence indicating Iran moved any highly enriched uranium before recent U.S. airstrikes on its nuclear facilities, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
"I'm not aware of any intelligence... that says things were moved," Hegseth stated at a press conference with Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who also confirmed no such movement was observed.
Despite satellite images showing trucks near Iranian nuclear sites and Iranian claims that the Fordo facility was evacuated ahead of the strikes, U.S. officials insist nothing was removed. Former President Donald Trump echoed this, calling the vehicles “concrete workers” and denying uranium was moved.
On June 22, the U.S. launched a major strike on Iran’s nuclear program, hitting Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan sites with bunker-buster bombs and cruise missiles. The operation followed Israel’s air raids and ended with a ceasefire on June 25.
Hegseth praised the operation as a "historically successful attack" and a chance for renewed diplomacy, despite Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s vow to retaliate if strikes resume.
