President Klaus Iohannis will participate in the EU-Western Balkans Summit and the European Council meeting in Brussels on Wednesday and Thursday, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The EU-Western Balkans Summit will focus on the implementation of the Growth Plan and regional integration efforts amid EU enlargement. President Iohannis will reaffirm Romania's support for the region's European aspirations, based on merit and strict conditionalities, especially in light of Russia's war against Ukraine.

On Thursday, the European Council will address key topics, including Ukraine, migration, the Middle East, crisis response, and the EU's global role. Discussions on Ukraine will focus on supporting its fight against Russian aggression and advancing a just, lasting peace. President Iohannis will emphasize the importance of a coordinated, strategic approach to aid Ukraine.

Other topics include tackling illegal migration, addressing the situation in the Middle East, and enhancing the EU’s preparedness in a tense geopolitical context.
