Romania and Israel Establish Day of Solidarity and Friendship:

In a historic move, Romania and the State of Israel have declared May 14th as the official Day of Solidarity and Friendship between the two nations. The decision was made by the Joint Standing Committees, following a proposal by minority deputy Silviu Vexler. This significant day marks the entry into force of Law 86/2024, commemorating the enduring bond between Romania and Israel. Per the law, each year on May 14th, or the closest parliamentary session date, the Romanian Parliament will hold a solemn moment to honor this occasion. Additionally, the Presidential Administration, Parliament, and Government will jointly raise the flags of Israel and Romania. The day will be marked with various diplomatic, political, cultural, and social activities aimed at promoting bilateral relations.

Greek Defense and Maritime Initiatives Unveiled in Parliament:

The Greek Parliament received two pivotal draft laws for consideration. The first, proposed by the Ministry of National Defense, outlines plans for the establishment of the Hellenic Defense Innovation Center, modernization of military educational institutions, and the creation of a Joint Cyber Command in the Armed Forces. This initiative aims to foster innovation, enhance academic programs, and bolster cybersecurity capabilities. The second draft law, presented by the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, focuses on ratifying a sub-lease agreement concerning the Port of Kavala. The agreement involves various entities, including the Greek State and private corporations, aiming to optimize port operations and stimulate economic growth in the region. Both proposals signify Greece's commitment to advancing defense capabilities and maritime infrastructure.
